Nike / Michael J. Fox Foundation / “Back From the Future”

A promotional event to raise funds for the Michael J. Fox Foundation Parkinson’s Disease research efforts. Nike designed a shoe based on the movie character’s futuristic footwear, then contributed hundreds of pairs to be auctioned off.

The event was held in the Ricardo Montalban Theatre in Los Angeles. The lobby featured a dozen display cases holding movie props, which we lit with standard cool-white LED tape.

The wall of the lobby featured a 20′ x 20′ display case, holding 240 of the promotional shoes. Each shelf was lit with our cool white LED tape.

Each stairway in the lobby had a sculpture hung above it. Each sculpture had three parallel tubes, each divided into 24 segments. The segments were lit with either red, amber or green LED tape, and were individually DMX controllable. A lighting board was brought in to control various chase patterns that played throughout the event.
